Following the successful implementation of a training workshop in Mufulira on the 19th and 20th March 2025 and Chingola on the 26th and 27th March 2025, women and youths have been empowered with vital knowledge and skills in Natural Resource Governance and Climate Justice. This initiative was made possible through funding from ActionAid Zambia, with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
Through interactive discussions, case studies, and expert-led sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the principles and practices of sustainable natural resource management and climate justice. The training also focused on empowering women and youths to actively participate in decision-making processes by building their capacity in advocacy skills, leadership, rights-based approaches, and sustainable resource management.
Practical group sessions provided hands-on experience in monitoring environmental impacts and engaging policymakers and other relevant authorities. By the end of the workshop, participants were better equipped to influence change within their communities and advocate for more inclusive and sustainable governance of natural resources.
The activity successfully met its objectives, fostering increased awareness, confidence, and civic engagement among women and youth in addressing environmental and governance challenges in their regions.
